What size battery or power station do you need?
Type in what you want to run and for how many hours. You get the watts and stored energy you need, and which of the stations we've checked can handle it.
Where to find the numbers
- Running watts. On the sticker on the appliance or in its manual. If the sticker gives amps and volts, multiply them.
- Start-up watts. Motors, like pumps, fridges and compressors, pull much more for the first second or two. Look for "starting watts" or "locked rotor amps" in the manual. If you can't find it, leave it blank and treat the answer as a minimum.
- Hours. How long the item is actually running, not how long it's plugged in. A fridge turns on and off.
We haven't filled in any example wattages. We haven't pulled them from manuals yet, and a made-up number would mislead you.
